Xi says China, Egypt set example of friendship, solidarity b

CAIRO, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that China and Egypt set an example of friendship, solidarity and coordination between developing countries, with strong political mutual trust, fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation, and close and effective coordination in multilateral affairs.

Xi made the remarks in a written speech delivered upon his arrival in Cairo for a state visit to Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In his written speech, Xi extended, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, sincere greetings and best wishes to the Egyptian government and the Egyptian people.

China and Egypt are both ancient civilizations, with a traditional friendship that has endured for thousands of years and stood the test of time, Xi said.

Over the past 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Xi said, the two countries have stood by each other and pursued win-win cooperation, regardless of changes in the international and regional situations.

Noting that in recent years, the two heads of state have jointly led the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to achieve leapfrog development, Xi said that during the visit, he will have an in-depth exchange of views with Sisi on China-Egypt relations, all-round cooperation between the two countries, and international and regional issues of common concern.

The two leaders will also jointly draw up a blueprint for the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, and write a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries, Xi said.
