Suspected of obstructing arrest and sentenced to 7 years in
On July 9th, according to South Korean MBC television, the Supreme Court of South Korea made a final verdict on the case of former South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol's alleged obstruction of arrest, rejecting Yoon Seok yeol's appeal and upholding the original verdict, sentencing Yoon Seok yeol to 7 years in prison.
Suspected of obstructing arrest, sentenced to 7 years!
On December 26, 2025, the special investigation team responsible for investigating the emergency martial law incident in South Korea submitted a request to the court to sentence Yoon Seok yeol to 10 years in prison on charges of obstructing arrest and other offenses.
On January 16, 2026, the court sentenced Yin Xiyue to 5 years in prison in the first instance, and the special prosecution team subsequently filed a protest against the first instance verdict.
On April 6, 2026, the special inspection team announced the request to the second instance court to sentence Yin Xiyue to 10 years in prison.
On April 29, 2026, Yin Xiyue was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the second trial of her alleged obstruction of arrest case. The Seoul High Court upheld the guilty verdict on some charges in the first instance, while changing the guilty verdict on some charges found not guilty in the first instance, ruling that Yoon Seok yeol was guilty of the main charges of obstructing the execution of the arrest warrant and abusing her power to infringe on the deliberation power of the State Councilor.
Full of lawsuits and involved in 8 criminal proceedings
On the evening of December 3, 2024, the then President of South Korea, Yoon Seok yeol, issued an emergency martial law order on the grounds of eradicating "North Korean forces". The next morning, the South Korean National Assembly passed a resolution calling for the lifting of martial law. Afterwards, Yin Xiyue was suspended, arrested, and impeached successively.

On November 21, 2025, the special prosecution team responsible for investigating the death of a Marine Corps soldier in South Korea charged Yoon Seok yeol with two counts of abuse of power, obstructing others from exercising their rights, and destroying official documents to render them invalid.
On November 27, 2025, the special prosecution team charged former President Yoon Suk yeol again on suspicion of hiding prisoners, abusing power, and violating the National Civil Service Law.
On December 26, 2025, South Korea's Kim Geun hye inspection team filed a lawsuit against Yoon Seok yeol for violating the Public Office Election Act.
On February 19, 2026, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Yoon Seok yeol to life imprisonment in the first instance for the crime of internal chaos leader. On February 24th, Yin Xiyue appealed the first instance verdict.
On May 12, 2026, Yin Xiyue was ordered by the special inspection team to be sentenced to 4 years in prison for allegedly accepting free public opinion investigation services. The court is expected to deliver the first instance verdict on July 13.
On May 28, 2026, Yin Xiyue was found not guilty of perjury in the trial of former Prime Minister Han Dezhu's involvement in civil unrest.
On June 12, 2026, Yin Xiyue was sentenced to 30 years in prison in the first instance for the "drone incident". Yin Xiyue's legal team appealed the first instance verdict on the same day.
On July 9, 2026, Yin Xiyue was sentenced to 7 years for obstructing the final verdict of the arrest case.
