US military exposed for soliciting 'creative' plan to strike
Washington, August 3 (Xinhua) -- CNN reported exclusively on August 3 that the US military is currently soliciting "creative and unconventional" plans to strike Iran internally. The reason is that traditional strike methods such as air strikes have limited effectiveness and are difficult to achieve all the goals of US military action against Iran.
The report quoted an insider as saying that an official from the intelligence department of the US Central Command sent an email to a large number of military analysts last week, stating that "we are seeking creative and unconventional new ways to pressure and punish Iran". Another informed source confirmed the matter and stated that the US Central Command acknowledges the need to re-examine existing strategies and is currently evaluating all possible options.
In response, a spokesperson for the US Central Command stated in a statement that the US Central Command has "long thought and worked in innovative ways... to achieve the highest level of combat effectiveness.
The report stated that the US military's practice of soliciting ideas through email is "unusual". US President Trump has been considering expanding military operations, including launching large-scale strikes on Iran's remaining nuclear facilities, but the effectiveness of airstrikes has been questioned. Trump is still considering launching a "fireworks display style" strike, hoping to withdraw from the war through a symbolic victory. But these actions are unlikely to solve the core issue of the current war, which is Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz.
At the end of the day, Trump wants to reach an agreement, so he keeps looking for ways to demonstrate a tough stance while also achieving withdrawal from the war, "the report quoted a source familiar with recent discussions on US military action plans as saying." Sometimes we need creative thinking, especially when traditional options are exhausted
According to reports, in recent months, the US military has submitted multiple plans to Trump to escalate the conflict, one of which is to carry out large-scale bombing of Iran for one to two weeks to destroy its missile capabilities. At the same time, more US military forces have been deployed to the Middle East region. However, Trump has not yet made a decision to take further action, partly due to the current insufficient inventory of US air defense interceptors.
On the 3rd, Trump told the media at the White House that the United States and Iran are in dialogue, and the US military's large-scale strike plan against Iran still exists. Earlier on the 3rd, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bagai stated that Iran is currently not in any negotiations with the United States.
