ISLAMABAD, Oct 2 (China Economic Net) - Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on medical education cooperation and international youth exchange between China and Pakistan were signed on September 30 at Riphah International University, as the Pakistan Chapter of the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA) and the China–Pakistan Youth Volunteer Services Team Center were launched.

The agreements recognize the friendship and all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan, and commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

Under the medical cooperation track, Riphah International University and the China Pakistan Medical Association signed an MoU providing for cooperation in medical education, medical research, clinical and professional training, and international exchange, aimed at further strengthening bilateral collaboration in the healthcare and medical education sectors.

In parallel, a second track of cooperation was opened between Riphah International University and the Shandong Tongshan Children Welfare and Development Center, covering culture, arts, education and international youth exchange, a reflection of the growing people-to-people dimension of China–Pakistan relations, in which youth exchange and cultural engagement are seen as important pillars of long-term friendship.

On the same occasion, the Pakistan Chapter of the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA) was inaugurated at Riphah International University. Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan was appointed as Head of the CPMA Pakistan Chapter and General Secretary of the CPMA by Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, President of the association. The chapter is expected to serve as an institutional platform to advance joint medical initiatives, facilitate academic and professional exchanges, and promote healthcare capacity building between the two countries.

To give youth engagement a lasting institutional base, the China–Pakistan Youth Volunteer Services Team Center was also established at Riphah International University, with Prof. Dr. Yawar Hayat Khan appointed as Director of the Pakistan office. The center is expected to mobilize young volunteers from both countries for community service, health outreach and cross-cultural exchanges.
