The US military claims to launch another strike against Iran

Washington, July 8th (Xinhua) -- The US Central Command announced on social media on July 8th that the US military will launch more strikes against Iran on the same day to further weaken Iran's ability to threaten navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This is a two-day military strike launched by the US military in response to Iran's recent attacks on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US Central Command has stated that Iran has carried out an "unwarranted attack" on commercial ships sailing in this important international waterway, and the US is holding them accountable.

Earlier in the day, U.S. President Trump said during his NATO summit in Türkiye that he was very unhappy with Iran. The U.S. military may strike Iran hard again "tonight", and may also impose a new maritime blockade on Iran.

According to reports from multiple media outlets including Iran's Bright News Agency, explosions were heard near the ports of Sirik, Abbas, and Chabahar in Iran late at night on the 8th local time.

The US Central Command announced on the 7th that the US launched an attack on Iran that day, hitting over 80 targets, including Iran's air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar stations, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats.
